What a day!!! Packed with all types of activities. First we went to the museum. Ioana planned so hard to see the Frick collection and then in the last minute she read the small letters where it says that children under 10 are not allowed. So, although the other kids thought this is a viable option to leave Tamar at home we decided not to, so instead we went to see the Metropolitan. We even arrived at opening hours since we are still waking up very early (starting from 3:30 till 5:30).
The decision was to have 3 hours and not more. The kids were supposed to select the desired collections and to go only there (otherwise u can spend one week in the museum). From previous attempts, we knew that it's not easy to visit a museum with the kids, but we don't give up trying! Still, this time was not different than others, especially since Amir was upset because of something at the beginning and made sure that if he doesn't enjoy, no one enjoys the museum. So, we started with the Egyptian part and saw the temple that came all the way to USA. We also saw a collection of arms and armory and passed through some wonderful halls with Italian style sculptures. Tamar even tried to imitate the sculpture posture.
Then, suddenly all the kids got hungry (it was 11:30) and not clear how since we really had a rich breakfast at home (eggs, tuna, pasta salad) . Probably the alternative to continue visiting was so bad that they preferred to eat. Well, we know the drill and we reached the cafetiria downstairs and pick rice for Tamar and a lot of other things for the boys and ourselves. In spite all the "we are not having fun" signs we continued to the upper level to see an exhibition of Van Gouch of irises and roses and also took a walk through the European modernist painting for a short while while trying to show them the differences between gougain, Van Gough, Monet and Seurat. Well, we probably crossed the line since the "we are not having fun" signs increased, so we decided we had enough.
The Central Park wanted to say good bye to us so we agreed. So many people were lying on the sun or playing on the green dawns. This time we came prepared. The bed sheets was taken out of the bag and a card game so we were ready to mix into the crowd (this time it was Yoni's turn to be upset about something). After one hour of sleeping and playing, the kids were ready to talk to us again. We strolled around, took some pictures on "Alice in the wonderland" sculpture and saw the boats that can be sailed in the lake. We exit the park and this time we tried the bus.
The problem was that we didn't really count the number of stops we need to travel so we missed Rockefeller center by 5 stops... But no worries we quickly changed the plans and started to walk towards it.
The central library was closed but there was a better attraction across the street. A shooting team with an FBI car laying on its side and a lot of staff trying to keep the crowd from passing straight through the set.
We waited for a while but nothing happened so we continued ahead to the central station.
For Ioana this was like being in the movies, for the children the Apple Store on the first floor was more attractive. The truth is it is amazing to see it - all the tables are outside, no walls, no door. Yoni is very intrested in the beats earphones and might be this will be his gift to the barmitsvha.
No stop here. We need to arrive to Rockefeller center today. But first we stopped at some shops that were there on our way. Tamar wants so much to celebrate Christmas and she was thrilled to be photographed with the tree in a store specialized just in that. Desigual store was also on the way and we took a blouse with us. And finally we reached Rockefeller center which was packed with people. We visit the Lego and Nintendo store but nothing came with us.
Last objective of the day was a special restaurant called "Ellen star dust dinner" where the waiters are singing songs from musicals. Since we almost gave up the musicals we thought this is the closest we will get to it. The food was not something but it was a different experience.
Very tired again (almost 20:30) we took the metro home and crushed.
Not before Ioana tried to operate the washing machine and succeeded and saw that a regular washing cycle is 10 minutes. Amazing. The dryer takes more and u need to add the softer to the washing machine exactly when the rinse cycle starts - but what can I tell u - America.
